There are many ways to get a web presence and some companies will convince you it comes with a price tag. But it doesn't have to be a big one. I know some services will give you a single page web and charge as much as $50 a month. To me that seems outrageous. A web page is space on a server in a data center somewhere where 10,000 of them could sit on a 10 year old computer. Unless you need e-commerce where the website actually handles orders and database functions there is no need to go with a fancy page. What you need is something that people are going to find when they are searching. The bottom line is can a potential customer type some things into a search engine and see your listing. Say you have a widget store in Conshohocken and someone types widget store in Conshohocken and the search engines do not pick up your listing on the first 2 pages then why are you paying $20 or $50 a month your your widget store page?

As a real world example go to your favorite search engine and search for Beer Distributor Conshohocken

For most of them A. Piermani is pretty close to the top. That is why they have me do their website. And it cost a lot less than $50 a month. I could do the same thing for you.

But I will also tell you how you can get your local Conshohocken advertising for free. Both google and yahoo have local listings. They use maps and locations to tag businesses. This is where the savvy internet users are going to see what is local instead of seeing sponsored links half way across the country.

These local listings have a basic option that is free. Some are auto-generated and have missing or incorrect data. And some are actively administered. You should always know what all your options are.

So go log on to google and yahoo and check and see if your business is listed. If it is I have probably reviewed it because as a Conshy resident I have things to say about my community :)
